The most common assumption when it comes to keeping discus fish is that they easily die from getting diseases. That’s not true. They only get diseases if you mistreat them. The main problem of them getting sick is stress.
If you casue discus fish to stress, their immune system will decrease, making them vunerable to diseases.

It’s extremely important to keep their stress to a mininum. In order to do that, I’ve listed some tips on keeping your discus fish healthy and disease free.
The tips are:
1. Whatever you do, don’t place your discus fish aquarium near a door. The movement will cause them to stress.
2. All your water needs to be free from heavy metals and chlorine. Also, be sure to invest in an water purifier, RO unit, or use good quality tap water.
3. Allow your discus fish a good diet consisting of slow sinking granules and frozen bloodworms.
4. Keep young discus in groups of at least six. Remember, discus fish are shoaling fish.
5. The next tip in keeping your discus fish disease free is to make sure there aren’t any large changes in the temperature or pH when changing your the aquarium water.
By following these five tips, your discus fish will remain healthy, beautiful, and stress-free.
